Specialised Speech and Drama Programme for Infants

From the moment they are born, our precious young ones are like sponges, ready to soak up everything – learning can happen at any age! Thus, the educational environment is extremely important.

With Speech and Drama at the core of our value added programme, we use drama as a tool to help our infants build Social Skills, Speech Skills, Self-Expression and Two-Way Communication.

Our programme also focuses on developing other EQ Skills such as Self-Confidence and Self-Awareness, incorporating fine and gross motor activities to aid in overall holistic development.

Self-confidence!

Infant

(6 – 12 months)

When our precious infants walk (or crawl!) through our door, we recognise the need to help them in the areas they are developing. It is at this stage communication skills are starting to evolve more. Infants are starting to recognize certain words, respond to certain words and even imitate speech.



Two-Way Communication Skills

Through Speech and Drama, the EQ Skill, Communication Skills, will be developed through various activities designed by our curriculum specialist and incorporated into our curriculum. Infants will be encouraged to interact with peers and parents, slowly developing Two-Way Communication Skills.

Speech Skills

Speech and Drama is used as a medium to help develop infants’ babbles – the building blocks of speech! Our speech and drama activities also help babies understand and respond to words as their vocabulary bank grows.

Self-Expression

Infants will be encouraged to express themselves as they explore their likes and dislikes during our Speech and Drama activities. Crucial for the development for a child’s self-confidence, working on self-expression ensures your infant will grow up communicating feelings in a positive way.

Social Skills

Drama activities in the classroom will also help build your infant’s Social Skills, as they interact with their peers and parents in the classroom. Developing social skills at a young age helps your infant build strong, positive relationships as they grow.

Empathy

An extremely important EQ skill that can’t be taught from a textbook, empathy has to be nurtured in the right environment. Infants are able to show a remarkable sensitivity to emotional cues, and with the right support, can develop empathetic skills at an extremely young age.

Fine and Gross Motor Skills

Fine and gross motor activities to help develop strength will complement each lesson, helping your infant grow and gain exposure. These activities also aid in speech formation and communication building as infants learn to label what they do and parents speak about each activity as they interact with their infant. It’s a great way to bond too!
